About me

Hi there! I'm Dorota, and I have certifications in animal behavior, zoopsychology, nosework, rally-O, and dog training. I've been a professional dog trainer for almost 9 years, and I've written books on understanding, communicating, and working with dogs.

I've been on an adventure with animals for as long as I can remember, but back when I was a child, the world of dog training seemed so different from what it is now. In my family, the profession of dog trainer didn't seem to resonate as a meaningful choice. That's why I initially pursued an academic career, earned a PhD, and spent over 10 years at Poland's oldest university - Jagiellonian University, sharing my passion for Japanese culture with students.

At some point, I realized I wanted to make a change, so I switched from being a teacher to being a student once more.

My academic experience was really beneficial in selecting a career path that aligns with the latest and most scientifically supported methods for working with dogs.

I grew up in Poland. I began my journey as a professional working with dogs by diving into theoretical knowledge and then spending countless hours practicing my skills. I started my very first dog business in Poland. And then I and  my family moved to Sweden, which was the realization of another dream! Since 2022, I have been working with dogs in a country that has provisions for dog welfare in government documents. For me, as a non-violent trainer, this is something truly wonderful! Sweden is a country I truly adore for its stunning nature, the wonderful people who cherish dogs and care for them no matter the weather, and for the laws that focus on protecting animal rights as well.

I still feel a strong connection to Poland, both in my heart and through my work in Czerowny Piesek (Red Pet). In 2022, I began a fantastic collaboration with Emil Nestorowicz, who is not only a zoopsychologist and behaviorist but also a dog trainer and creator of online courses. This was another little dream of mine that I didn't quite have the courage to bring to life. Emil provided me with the chance to explore the part of the online business that truly excites me - writing books, connecting with dog handlers, offering online training courses, and managing Social Media.

I'm really passionate about working with anxious dogs and understanding canine communication. I’ve always preferred to enjoy time with my dogs without the pressure of competition, so I don’t take part in any contests with them. However, I think that training is something everyone should have access to, and every dog deserves both mental stimulation and physical exercise. Olfactory work and training using positive reinforcement are wonderful tools for helping dogs with challenges.

Haker, my Alaskan malamute, and Ergo, my Yakutian laika, are my two wonderful dogs. I train mantrailing (MTPL) and nosework (Nosework Club Poland - based on Svenska Nose Work Klubben regulations) with my dogs, and the best part is that we live together and have a great time enjoying each other's company.

I'm excited to share that all my lessons are available in both English and Polish! I'm able to hold a conversation in Swedish. Let's give Swedish lessons a shot if you're up for it! It would mean so much to me!
